How To Do Copenhagen In 3 Days On A Budget

First thing’s first, believe the hype. Copenhagen is steeeeeep. But, thankfully, there are ways around it. I’ve just got back from a glorious 3-day solo trip that felt everything but frugal.

Day One – NY Carlsberg Glyptotek,

Like most major cities, Copenhagen’s galleries and museums have free entry days – something that is not advertised enough! Honestly, the amount of dough you will save by checking out when your chosen museum / gallery has free entry is mind blowing. Just be sure to head there either early in the morning or late in the evening – it will be rammed with people at midday.

With that in mind, head on over to NY Carlsberg Glyptotek, and make sure it’s on a Tuesday to get in fo’ free. This art museum is absolutely banging, and boasts works from everyone from Van Gogh to Matisse. You’ll need to put your bag in a locker downstairs which often has a little queue – so be sure There is a glorious, plant adorned entrance, too, so make sure the iPhone is charged and ready to rock.

Once you’ve soaked up enough free art, treat yourself to a mini-splurge and get some grub at Café Dyrehaven. A cute little spot frequented by locals, this quaon the corner of a traditional Copenhagen street

Day Two – Free Walking Tour, Nahvan

Total cliche, but who cares. Couldn’t wait to go and see Nyhavn’s harbour in all it’s multicoloured glory.

Day Three – Brekkie at Cafe Granola

Where To Watch Live Music in Copenhagen

If you’re looking to catch some live music during your Copenhagen jaunt, make sure you check out Bo-Bi Bar (pictured right). A waitress at Café Dyrehaven recommended this place to me – what a find! Begun in 1917 as a hang-out for sailors, this cozy little spot has live jazz musicians every weekend feels very 1940’s Paris. Nothing fancy, but all round good vibes.

Note: Make sure you give them a call before you go to check that they definitely have live music on that night.
